HotHouse Company invites All Saints’ College students, staff, Old Saints, families and friends to participate in an exciting project with award-winning Australian theatre company Back to Back Theatre.
Back to Back Theatre’s The Democratic Set has toured the world for nine years starring hundreds of community members and, in 2019, All Saints’ College is privileged to be the first school to participate in this project.
The Democratic Set is a residency model for creating short films and performances, to explore the belief that all people are, in principle, equal and should enjoy social, political and economic rights and opportunities. The Democratic Set uses a custom-made film set, a neutral room with two opposing doors.
Disturbingly obvious and tantalisingly strange, The Democratic Set is a rapid series of short live performances and screen-based video portraits created in collaboration with communities.
Participants may take part as individuals or in groups (2–15) to create their 15-second performance!
The film below includes footage of 15 Democratic Set residences and was screened at the 2015 PQAU Exhibition, as part of the Prague Quadrennial, 18 – 28 June 2015. To learn more about Back to Back, please visit: https://backtobacktheatre.com/
To apply to take part in this project, please fill in the Application Form before Friday, 1 March 2019 by clicking on the BOOK NOW button below.
In this form, you must specify the names of participants and your performance idea. You must also indicate your preferred film day and time slot (see options below).
After the cut-off date, the applications will be short-listed to ensure we capture a broad demographic across the College community. All participants will be notified via email by Friday, 8 March 2019 if their performance has been selected for The Democratic Set.
